Fitz McIvor Allen was born on August 23, 2011 in Midland, Michigan. He is a full bread Shih-Tzu. He is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet. He loves kisses, people food, going on walks and car rides and going to work with his parents. He also has been known to rock the sidelines of any sand volleyball game in style and can make friends with just about anyone. For all you non-dog people, he also DOES NOT shed!
Fitz Lost His Left Eye in June 2019
I had already moved to Phoenix to start working at KMLE Country 107.9 and my wife Heidi stayed back in Atlanta to sell our house and get things wrapped up in Atlanta, GA. In January 2019 our dog Fitz got an eye infection that turned into 2 eye ulcers. Anyone who has owned a pet with an eye injury knows the struggle. Eye drops every hour (up to 8 per hour at one point) for every hour he was awake was pretty trying on our entire family. We were very fortunate that our works allowed us to bring him to work in order to keep up with the drops. So… flash forward to Memorial Day Weekend my wife calls me crying to tell me that Fitz’ eye was getting worse and that the vet said he has lost the rest of his vision and his eye was severely infected. We made the hard decision to have them remove his eye. Though it was tough at the time, pets are very resilient and he is doing great! His paw & eye coordination isn’t quite as good as it was before, but he has adjusted really really well!
